The Forth bridges operating contract will provide an company responsible for inspecting and maintaining the Forth Road Bridge, the new Queensferry Crossing and the adjacent road network.
The three prequalified bidders are:
- Amey LG
- Ringway-Jacobs-Cofiroute, made up of Cofiroute SA, Jacobs UK and Ringway Infrastructure Services
- Scotland TranServ, made up of Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering and Mouchel.
The next stage of the tendering is a competitive dialogue process to seek best value for the public purse and ensure high-quality delivery.
The contract will run for five years with scope for extending for a further five years and the successful bidder is expected to be announced in November 2014. The work is worth between US$64 million and US$97 million over the five years. It includes protection of terms and conditions for all existing staff, and will seek to ensure opportunities for apprenticeships in the local community.
