Turkish contractor Onur Taahhut and Ukraine’s state road agency Ukravtodor signed the contract this week for the building of the bridge over the Dnieper River in Zaporizhzhya. The project also includes construction of associated roads, interchanges and other structures, giving a total value for the work of US$472 million.

Construction of the bridge began in 2004 but was never completed.

"The bridge in Zaporizhya is important for the whole country, it is a complicated engineering object, the history of modern Ukraine does not have any analogues to this construction," said Ukravtodor chairman Oleksandr Kubrakov.

Construction is due for completion in March 2024.
