Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has awarded Walsh Construction a US$190 million contract to replace a steel truss bridge over the Allegheny River with twin concrete structures. The new 716m-long bridges will be built as cast-in-situ concrete box girders using the balanced cantilever method. The site is close to the golf club hosting the 2007 US Open and construction will begin after the competition ends in June.
