The 62m-long steel bowstring arch bridge was jacked 6m up to its installation height before its final journey on top of four 40-wheel self-propelled modular transporters.

The bridge is an integral part of the expansion of the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram network. It is one of a series of structures that will eventually form a 300m-long elevated tram route through the Queen's Medical Centre campus, over the A52 and down into the University of Nottingham’s campus.

“Following the success of the bridge slide over Nottingham Railway Station, this is another key element of the construction project,” said Michael Anderson, project director for the NET Phase Two construction contractor, Taylor Woodrow Alstom.
