A groundbreaking ceremony yesterday kicked off work on the Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge in San Diego, USA. The structure will be one of the world's longest self-anchored suspension bridges.

It will have a 152.4m curved span and a 39.6m-high central angled pylon.

The US$26.8 million project is the result of of local,state, regional and federal collaboration. The lead bridge engineer is TY Lin International, the project architect is Safdie Rabines and the contractor is Reyes Construction.
