The project represents an investment of approximately US$370 million (6,350 million pesos) and aims to improve traffic flow in one of the busiest corridors in southern Tamaulipas.

The viaduct will start in the city of Altamira and extend toward Tampico, ending near Avenida Las Torres. The alignment has already been defined, and the project will be developed in phases to accommodate future demand.

The announcement was made during the International Tourism Infrastructure Congress organized by the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry in Tampico. The viaduct is part of a broader package of road works for the region, which also includes the Ciudad Mante bypass and the Mante–Ocampo–Tula highway.

Authorities estimate that the viaduct will help alleviate congestion for more than 25,000 vehicles that travel daily between Altamira and Tampico. The project is expected to improve connectivity to high-traffic destinations such as Playa Miramar and support economic growth in the metropolitan area.

The state government has signed an agreement with Mexico’s Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport. Legal procedures for permits, right-of-way clearance, and related maintenance are currently being finalised. The viaduct is projected to open between 2027 and 2028.
