A US$84 million scheme to create new road and rail connections over the River Medway in Kent, England, begins this month.
There will be a rail bridge and a road bridge linking the A228 on the west bank to a new village development on the east bank.
Trenport (Peters Village) – the company overseeing the project - has named BAM Nuttall as the main contractor.
The heart of the new village is the former Peters Lime & Cement Works, once one of the largest chalk quarrying operations in the area. At its peak, it employed 1,000 people and operated 80 barges.
