The bridge has taken the Millau Viaduct’s record as the highest cable-stayed bridge in the world. It crosses a deep ravine in Mexico with a clearance of 390m, beating Millau’s 270m.
The 1,124m-long bridge is in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains in northern Mexico and its 520m main span is the longest in North America. The bridge is a key part of the Mazatlán-Durango highway, a project that will link the Pacific and Atlantic through the north of Mexico.
