One of the packages is for procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges on the Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor. It is estimated that about 70,000t of steel will be used for the fabrication of the bridges, which will cross over railway lines, rivers, highways, road crossings and other structures.
The second tender covers viaduct design and construction between Vadodara and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, including construction of an elevated station, five bridges and 25 crossings.
The bidders for the steel bridges are: Tata Projects; Afcons Infrastructure; Braithwaite & Co; Bridge & Roof Co India; JMC Projects and Rahee Infratech; a consortium of ISGEC Heavy Engineering and M & B Engineering; and a consortium of Larsen & Toubro and IHI Infrastructure Systems.
Three teams are bidding for the 88km of viaduct. They are a consortium of Afcons Infrastructure Limited, Ircon International Limited and JMC Projects India; the HSR consortium of NCC, Tata Projects, J Kumar Infra Projects; and Larsen & Toubro.
