The new US$16 million crossing will be a three-span, 122m steel truss bridge with arches. To reduce long-term maintenance costs, the bridge will include sustainable design features, such as using weathering-steel for the truss, a metal roof, and a low-maintenance deck.

The project is being conducted in partnership with real estate developer City Interests, which is funding 25% of the cost of the bridge and providing a property easement for the west-side stairs and ramp.

Construction is anticipated to begin during this summer 2014 and take at least 18 months.
