A 19km bridge had originally been under consideration for the fixed link but the immersed tunnel option was chosen instead (link opens in new tab).
Two packages covering three groups of bridges are now being advertised for bridges associated with the project. The total value of the work is up to US$90 million.
The first lot includes package E3002 – design and build works related to 19 rail bridges – and E3004, the design and construction of 11 road/pedestrian bridges and 11 rail bridges.
The second lot, E3003, relates to a total of 15 bridges including nine road/pedestrian bridges and six rail bridges.
The schemes include new bridges, widening, demolition and upgrades. It is the intention to prequalify up to six applicants and the response deadline is 26 May 2014.
