The superstructure of Dublin's Samuel Beckett Bridge has arrived in the Irish capital's port after a week-long sea trip from a Netherlands shipyard. The cable-stayed bridge, designed by Santiago Calatrava, will form a link between Guild Street to the north side of the city and Sir John Rogerson's Quay on the south side.

Construction of the 120m-long, 48m-high steel superstructure began in the Graham-Hollandia JV Shipyard in Rotterdam in May 2007, concurrently with associated civil and marine works on site in Dublin.

More than half of the US$81.77 million cost has been met by Dublin City Council, with the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government and Dublin Docklands Development Authority co-funding the remainder.
