The provincial government of Ontario has named Stantec Consulting as the detail design contractor for the structure that will replace an ageing island swing bridge.
Little Current Swing Bridge, which dates to 1913, provides a single lane of road access to Manitoulin Island on Lake Huron. It will be replaced with a new two-lane swing bridge built just to the west. The new crossing will also have a pedestrian walkway and a bike lane.
