The bridge is part of the Chaohu–Manshan Intercity Railway. As well as the main channel span, it includes a secondary channel bridge and approach bridges on both banks and a river island, giving a length of 9.8km.

The three-tower main span has a total length of 3248m, which China Railway Corporation says is the world’s longest continuous steel truss cable-stayed bridge.

An arch bridge on the same railway was built in two halves and swung into place over a major expressway in November 2024 (link opens in new tab).
