Authorities in Austria are confident that construction of a new bridge over the River Danube in the city of Linz is on schedule to start this year
The new bridge, which is nearly 400m long and will carry highway and light rail traffic as well as pedestrians, has been designed by Marc Mimram. It is being built on the alignment of a former railway bridge and once legal proceedings are completed in May, bids are expected to be invited, with the US$60 million contract due to be awarded before the end of the year.
The client for the new bridge is the city authority - it is expected to open to traffic in 2020.
