Portugese high speed rail company Rave has launched the competition to find a public-private partnership for the provision of the Lisbon-Poceirão line, which includes a major road and rail bridge across the Tagus in Lisbon. The contract involves the scheme's design, construction, finance and maintainance including the provision of rail infrastructure.

The 34km route will include 7.2km bridging the River Tagus. The bridge is known locally as the TTT - Terceira Travessia do Tejo. There will be a cable-stayed section with a main span of 540m and 198m-tall towers. Most of the remaining spans will be between 90m and 120m, with some of 160m. It will carry a both conventional and high-speed rail lines as well as road traffic.

Competitors will have four months to prepare their proposals. Construction is due to begin in 2010 for completion in 2013.
