The project involves a 1.5km-long rail bridge with a cycle lane and walkway. The new bridge will be constructed south of the existing Marieholm Bridge and is designed to increase rail capacity and connect key harbour and industrial areas.

MT Højgaard will be in charge of producing and installing the steel bridge and has a 30% share of the contract. Skanska, which has a 70% share, will be responsible for concrete construction and earthworks. The new bridge, like the first, is a combined lift-swing bridge with an opening section of 72m.
