The Public Works Roads Department of Assam has awarded a contract to construct a 3.6km cable-stayed bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Assam to Indian multinational Larsen & Toubro.

The bridge will link the towns of Palashbari and Sualkuchi, a world-renowned weaving centre, improving connectivity with Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

The project also includes 8.61km of approaches on either side, with wetland viaducts. The maximum span of the extradosed cable-stayed portion is 165m.
