Norwegian real estate development company GC Reiber Eiendom has signed a contract with construction group Consto for an aluminium foot and cycle bridge which is the country’s longest at 60m.

The structure, in the city of Bergen on the country’s south west coast, will be made from recycled aluminium, which can itself be recycled at the end of its 100-year lifespan.

Leirvik AS will manufacture the structure in two sections, which will be transported to the site for assembly. The bridge will be opened in summer 2026.
