Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development has announced that the second I-10 Twin Span Bridge contract will be let on 15 November. The department chose the date to allow contractors time to prepare their estimates for both this project and for Phase III of the widening of the Huey P Long Bridge, which is due to be let on 25 October. The I-10 contract will replace the section between New Orleans and Slidell that was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina last year. It involves building the bridge's high rise section as well as westbound approaches.
Boh Bros Construction has already been awarded a US$379 million contract for the level section of the bridge and eastbound approaches.
