The transport ministers of Germany and Denmark have announced an agreement to go ahead with the 18km Fehmarn Belt Bridge linking the two countries.
The road and rail bridge across the Baltic Sea will be owned, and primarily funded, by Denmark though parliaments in both countries will need to approve the plan. Completion is planned for 2018.
