The Delhi-Meerut rapid rail transit system (RRTS) will be approximately 90km in length, 30km of which will be underground and 60km elevated. The corridor will allow speeds of up to 160km/h.

Egis and Spanish engineering firm Ineco have secured a two-years contract to carry out the detailed design. Assignments included the definition of technical parameters for entire corridor and the design studies for 16km of viaduct, including the foundations as well as the superstructure. The team will also prepare the tender documents, supervise the geotechnical surveys and provide support during construction. Egis is the lead contractor in the consortium and, in addition to the technical assignments divided up between the two partners, will be responsible for the general coordination and administration of the contract.
