A pedestrian and cycle bridge opened this week in Newport, on the same day that the Welsh city's famous Transporter Bridge celebrated its centenery. The new footbridge features two A-frame masts, 80m and 70m long, supporting the deck structure from the west bank. The bridge was fabricated locally by Rowecord before being positioned by contractor Alfred McAlpine. The engineering design was by Atkins.
