The 216th and final pier was installed on Saturday in the deep water zone of the bridge linking Chongming and Changxing islands in Shanghai.
The 10.3km bridge is a key part of a 25km-long connection between Pudong New Area and Chongming Island. The US$163.6 million scheme, which is due for completion in July 2010, will reduce travel time between Pudong and Chongming Island from today's three hours to just 20 minutes.
