Steelwork erection for the Sellwood Bridge is set to start this week following the arrival of the first sections for the arches.
The arch ribs were brought by barge along the Willamette River from the fabrication yard.
They are for one of three arch spans of the bridge, which is being built in Portland in the US state of Oregon to replace an ageing structure that has been relocated to allow a detour to be set up (link opens in new tab).
More steel will arrive in February for the US$299 million bridge.
