A six-month closure of the Flagler Memorial Bridge in the US state of Florida began yesterday as part of the construction of its replacement.
The closure will allow PCL Construction to build the main foundations for the new bridge before reopening the existing crossing to traffic at the start of November. The existing opening bridge span will remain in its raised position to allow passage of marine traffic.
The new crossing will have a higher and wider navigation span.
