The Gabonese Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure has achieved financial close on a 36-month contract with a consortium of Belgian companies.
The consortium led by BESIX, with Metallic Bridges of Belgium (a subsidiary of Matiere), will take on seven projects in the west African country.
The first of the projects is the design and build of two 200m flyovers in Libreville, the capital of Gabon. The consortium will also construct a 200m steel bridge over the Anaga River in Ebel, and four pedestrian bridges in Libreville to improve safety near schools and markets.
BESIX will take on the civils and the installations. Metallic Bridges of Belgium will supply the Unibridge steel structures. The companies have worked together previously in west Africa on projects in Cameroon.
