The 2,216m-long bridge will be the eighth to cross the Yangtze in the city of Yichang. The scope of work also includes approach roads on both sides of the bridge, giving a total project length of 13.46 km.
The new bridge is intended to improve links between Hubei and the southeastern coastal regions. It will contribute to the creation of a high-speed route between the middle reaches of the Yangtze and the Pearl River Delta, the country's southern industrial hub and the Beibu Gulf area.
