The Indonesian government has decided against building the US$16.5 billion Sunda Strait Bridge, at least for the next 10 to 15 years.
National development planning minister Andrinof Chaniago has confirmed that the plan for the bridge connecting the islands of Java and Sumatra is not in line with the president’s vision for economic development.
Building new ships and improving the ports have been put forward as cheaper options.
