Calcasieu Bridge Partners have reached financial close on a project to design, build, operate and maintain for 50 years a new 9km bridge over the Calcasieu River between Lake Charles and Westlake in Louisiana, USA.

The project includes the demolition of a 1950s structure that predates the interstate system, with its steep approaches and lack of hard shoulders.

The total capital expenditures will be US$3.7 billion and the construction budget is US$2.27 billion. Louisiana will contribute US$1.2 billion. The long-term financing includes US$1.33 billion tax-exempt private activity bonds.
