The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)has signed a loan agreement with the government of Pakistan to provide up to US$177 million for an emergency rehabilitation project.
The project will address the restoration of roads and bridges that were seriously damaged by floods when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province sufffered rainfall of 3,462mm between 28 July and 3 August 2010.
Without progress in the rehabilitation of those roads and bridges, local residents have difficulties in restoring their lives, as well as regaining their livelihood, said JICA.
