It will be Bangladesh's first steel arch bridge. The 380m arch bridge and its approach structure will be more than 1km long in total.
The project will address a cross-river bottleneck between Mymensingh and Shambhugonj on the Dhaka-Mymensingh-India corridor.
The loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was agreed earlier this year. The loan also covers construction of approach roads, consulting services and project management support as well as training to develop local capacity in the management and maintenance of this type of bridge.
