An inspection last week revealed that river bank instablity had compromised the structural integrity of the bridge over the Red River at St Adolphe. Manitoba Infrastructure & Transportation says that there is a significant likelihood of failure.

One of the piers was found to have moved by about 1m since the last inspection on June 29. Further movement has continued to take place, causing the deck to buckle. Options are being examined to bring down or repair the structure.

It is among a number of bridges affected by flooding earlier this year. All were inspected at the time and after the waters receded.
