The Bangladesh government has signed an agreement with Maunsell Aecom for the design of the Padma Bridge.
The work wil be carried out by the company's New Zealand business, with support from Hong Kong.
The 5.58km bridge over the River Padma will connect the south west of the country with its capital Dhaka. It will carry both road and rail. Construction is expected to begin in 2011 at a cost of US$1.5 billion.
