The My Thuan 2 Bridge forms part of the US$210 million North-South Expressway project. It is part of a raft of infrastructure works intended to develop transport networks in the Mekong Delta to spur the economy in the south-west region, including Ho Chi Minh City.

Construction started in February 2020 (link opens in new tab). It is 1.9km long with a 650m cable-stayed main span. The approach spans, which total 1,276m consist of balanced cantilevers on Super-T girders.
