The major infrastructure plan includes the construction and operation of a greenfield toll road and bridge with a design speed of 120km/h.

The state had invited expressions of interest on 28 November, with the public opening of the bid representing the first of six stages on the path to announcing a winner. An evaluation phase, which started today, is next on the agenda.

A number of major international and domestic players have been shortlisted, including Julius Berger, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, China State Construction and Engineering Corporation Nigeria, and Bua International, with the project to be pursued as a public-private partnership.
