The new bridge will enable pedestrians and cyclists to cross a stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) that separates key destinations and neighbourhoods on both the north and south side of Burnaby Lake Park.

In 2019, the city undertook the first phase of the project, which included work to help choose the location, along with environmental, geotechnical, and archaeological analyses to complete a preliminary schematic design. A total of four crossing locations have been analysed and reviewed.

The project team is now asking local people to complete an online survey to help establish current travel patterns as well as the potential use of the bridge.
