The first tower leg and the counterweight box are now at the site, where the White-Skanska-Koch design-build joint venture team is building the US$244 million steel vertical lift bridge under the direction of Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

At the west abutment, removal of the existing concrete is ongoing and will be followed shortly by rebar and concrete placement for the new land foundations.

On the Quincy side of the river, a portion of the bridge’s protection system against collisions with ships is ready to to receive steel rebar and concrete. Work at the Quincy abutment is ongoing as is work on the Quincy land foundations.

In Weymouth, the focus this summer includes work on the tower, followed by steel erection, completion of the land shafts and work on the bridge dolphin and fenders.
