The work involves strengthening a series of bridges on key highways that connect ports, transport hubs and major industries.
The current round of projects, which is due for completion this month, covered the strengthening of seven bridges in the state’s north and north west.
Tenders have now been called for the upgrading of an additional six bridges on key freight routes, with work expected to begin this year.
