The Federal Bridge Corporation (FBCL) announced that both spans of the Second Blue Water Bridge are open to traffic again following rehab work that has been underway since March (link opens in new tab).

The work on the twin-span bridge that takes road traffic over the St Clair River between Port Huron, Michigan, USA and Point Edward, Ontario, Canada included rehab of the concrete sidewalks; repairs to the main span concrete deck, waterproofing and repaving.

FBCL owns, manages and operates Ontario’s international bridges. It collaborated with Michigan Department of Transport to ensure the work went ahead with minimal disruption to bidirectional traffic flow. A FAST Toll lane kept open throughout helped to maintain stable commercial traffic flow. And a dedicated local lane improved safety and traffic flow for residents and businesses to minimise delays.

Other bodies involved in the rehab project include Canada Border Services Agency, the US Customs and Border Protection, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and Facca Incorporated.
