Entries are being invited from professional teams to design a pedestrian and cycle bridge as part of the restoration of the Four Mile Run in Northern Virginia, USA. Four Mile Run is a flood control channel that forms the border between the city of Alexandria and Arlington County.
The competition seeks a design that will be followed by other bridges across the channel. The project description says that it is to take inspiration from its surrounding natural and industrial elements and that the bridge is to be "a modern, sustainable and sculptural piece, spanning clear across the run with minimal impact to the streambed".
The competition begins with a request for qualifications and culminates in a public presentation given by three finalists.
The deadline is 7 December.
