Its bid of US$26.6 million came in considerably under the US$35.8 million initial estimate. Three other bids were also submitted, with the highest being US$35.6 million. The contract award was based 60% on quality and 40% on cost.



Collision protection will be provided to several piers adjacent to the navigation spans. The project includes marine piling and concreting works in the Tay Estuary as well as completion of a geotechnical investigation to determine geotechnical design and construction parameters. The ground investigation is likely to be subcontracted.
