Repair work continues on a crucial bridge linking Wales with the Isle of Anglesey as Spencer Bridge Engineering deploys an innovative modular moving access system.

Spencer, which developed AeroTruss as a temporary access system, needs to get at the underdeck of the bridge in order to carry out the second phase of work on the 200-year-old structure.

The first phase of work involved the replacement of the bridge’s 168 wire rope hangers (link opens in new tab). Spencer has also previously repaired 45 of the 60 corbels using rope access.

This phase will feature repairs to the remaining 15 corbels. Spencer will also repair and paint parapets and conduct load checking and re-stressing of the land saddles.
