Construction of a US$17 million bridge started this week in Blackburn, northern England. The 78m-span bowstring arch structure will have a steel/concrete deck and carry a dual carriageway. It part of a new orbital route and will replace an existing one-way crossing with sub-standard load-carrying capacity.
