The new truss will be slid into position on top of the existing piers, which will be rehabilitated. Use of this method means that the bridge is is expected to close for a total of only 10 days during construction, rather than the 365-day closure originally foreseen.

The US$131 million project is being carried out under a design and build contract by Walsh Construction with design firms Buckland & Taylor and Burgess & Niple.
