The Bangladesh Government has awarded a contract to Japanese construction company Shimizu Corporation and the Italian-Thai Development Company for the construction of civil works on the US$89 million Rupsha Bridge connecting Mongla Port with Khulna. Construction work on the 1360m bridge, which has over 8.5km of approach road, is expected to start on 30 May, and be completed within 42 months.
