The bridge will span the Interstate 285 highway and connect the new stadium to local parking and shopping facilities.

Last month, the board of commissioners had ranked Aecom as top of four firms bidding for the work. The board's meeting yesterday approved a sum of up to US$804,321.44 for Aecom to design the bridge. Earlier estimates for the design cost had been in the range of US$750,000 to US$778,000; the fee now negotiated with Aecom includes geotechnical contingencies and early completion incentives.

The cost of building the bridge has been put at up to US$9 million.
