Bayonne refurb contract goes to American Bridge
The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has awarded a general contract for structural improvements on the Bayonne Bridge to contractor American Bridge Company. The US$6.6 million contract is due to complete in February 2003, and includes the addition of 60 new longitudinal girders, each spanning 12m between floorbeams, in the 503m main span of the arch bridge. Forty of the girders are plate and 20 are box girders. Fabrication is being carried out by American Bridge Manufacturing and Michelman Cancelliere.
