Plans for a cable-stayed pedestrian and cycle bridge made of Cor-ten steel have been approved by Bradford on Avon town council in the English county of Wiltshire.

The council wants the design of Kingston Bridge to be lightweight and transparent, in order to maintain river views and provide a contrast with the adjacent stone Town Bridge. The new bridge, which is designed by Mark Lovell Design Engineers, will have a 40m span and a single inclined mast.

The choice of Cor-ten steel for the main structural parts was in line with the council's wish for the bridge to require little maintenance.
