The Government of Canada has named the contractor who will demolish and remove the irreparable bascule bridge on LaSalle Causeway, Kingston, Ontario (link opens in new tab).
Priestly Demolition Inc of King, Ontario is the chosen contractor for this work. The contract is valued at US$1.2 million.
Public Services and Procurement Canada and the city of Kingston intend to reinstate the crossing for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians with a temporary modular bridge. Design work on the permanent replacement bridge will begin soon.
